I've been listening to this release since it original came out, now it's remastered with bonus tracks. Enjoy. This is their best live recording ever, the energy, the hunger and the drive. What more could you ask for.
Unleashed in the East is the place to start and end as far as Judas Priest live albums go. Halford's vocals are front and center throughout.
Highest Recommendation. I've heard some people claim that there was excessive overdubbing on this album especially with Rob's vocals, but I say who cares.
KK and Glen are in top form trading off deadly licks while Ian holds down the groove. An absolute must own classic.
"You're in for a surprise, you're in for a SHOCKEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR." The octave that Halford hits on "The Ripper" has me questioning whether he is man or beast. The track listing reads as a greatest hits album (Sinner, Green Manalishi, Exciter, Victim of Changes, etc).
This is one cd that remains on heavy rotation in my collection.
"The Green Manalishi" and "Diamonds And Rust" are both great live tracks. I like the original studio version but this is so much better. Then the bonus tracks: I love to hear them without a break. "Sinner" and "The Ripper" are perfect songs even as studio versions but the live versions are great to hear. "Starbreaker" is however the best track from bonus tracks.Stars: Tyrant, Victim of Changes, Exciter
Especially "Tyrant" surprised with its speed and rawness. The starts is excellent - "Exciter" is one of the strongest tracks Priest has ever recorded. This live experience has been made so perfect. Still, a perfect opener for a perfect live album. All the other Priest live recordings - forget them. So sad it is the only tracks they performed from "Stained Class". "Running Wild" is not my favorite tracks from "Killing Machine" album but I have to say that this live version is much much better. Rob Halford's voice can really be high or low - it's great.
"Rock Forever", "Delivering the Goods", and "Hell Bent for Leather" which are tracks from "Killing Machine" (or "Hell Bent for Leather) are great to hear live. This is the only live album that really represents the rawness of Judas Priest in their live gigs. I would have really loved to hear "Beyond the Realms of Death" or "Better by You, Better Than Me". Then.three songs from "Sad Wings of Destiny" to fill the perfection of the original live album: "Victim of Changes", "Genocide", and "Tyrant".
Victim of Changes, Green Manalishi, Diamonds and Rust, Sinner.it's like the opposite of the Highlander: "There can only be all of them." come to life. Rob Halford makes the tracks from Sad Wings, Sin After Sin, etc. I tried to pick my favorite track from this album, but there is no way to pick just one. Make it this one. It is quite possibly the most perfect heavy metal record ever recorded. Every track is thrilling.
What I loved about this release is the bonus tracks, they really give you a better idea of JP's live show. I cranked up the volume in my car and love it.
